Web Barcode Assistant This utility is currently provided by Sanguin International Limited as a free Internet utility to use as you wish.
All barcodes are Code 128, this code is commonly available on barcode scanners and may be used to contain numbers as well as text. Code 128 although more dense than most barcodes offers a high level of barcode accuracy.
The text you place in the text box will be interpreted into barcodes within your web browser and displayed as actual barcodes on your display when the 'Get Barcodes' button is selected. The barcodes can then be printed out from your web browser to any of your attached printers. In addition with some types of non-reflective monitors the barcodes can be read directly off your display. After printing the barcodes selecting your browsers Back button will clear the previous entry.
No special printer is required, we have found that good quality laser printers and inkjet printers are perfectly OK and produce excellent results on normal paper. We have not tried dot matrix printers, but providing they have a good resolution and a graphics driver then they should also be sufficient.
There are numerous makes available on the market, actual scanners are preferable to light pens, the only requisite is that the barcode reader must be able to read Code 128.
All barcode lists will produce a small banner at the top of the sheet. This banner will remain as long as this utility is provided free.
If you want to produce a work list from already bar-coded items then scan each item's barcode directly into the text box within the barcode generator.
Create your own forms or work sheets in a word processor and print out a volume of these forms. These forms can be then placed in your printer paper tray and barcodes printed onto them. Using the 'Barcodes per page' selection it is possible to produce either pre-formatted work lists, despatch notes, label sets etc. If you have a dual paper feed tray in your printer then it should be possible to select this through your current 'Print' facility in your web browser and load this tray with pre-printed forms.
You can simply Copy and Paste any lists of data directly into the text box from other applications e.g. Excel, Access, Word etc.
Although the facility will take all ASCII characters it should be remembered that some characters are translated differently e.g. £ and #. To ensure these are correctly represented in you barcodes you need to ensure your barcode reader is capable of different Language and keyboard settings.
